The six
Ich war 19, the DEFA film of 1968, is the oldest of them and still the one older Saxons name first. Rottenknechte, a five-part GDR television series, followed in 1971. Sachsens Glanz und Preußens Gloria was made across 1985 to 1987 and is the reason a certain generation recognises the Torhaus ramp instantly. Trenck – Zwei Herzen gegen die Krone came in 2003, with Ben Becker and Alexandra Maria Lara. Die Gräfin, released in English as The Countess, was shot here in 2008 with Julie Delpy, Daniel Brühl and William Hurt. Nine and a half hectares, more than fifty structures inside an 1,800-metre wall, a garrison church, two arsenals, a baroque pavilion, casemates and a cellar system — and the nearest modern road is 240 metres below the lens. Getting out here from Dresden
The Dresden full-day trip does set foot on the fortress, and reviewers report the day splitting into roughly ninety minutes in the national park and about two hours up here. Its own description says fortress entry is not included, so you settle that at the window.
